Entire House Over $1,000,000

National winner
McCutcheon Construction Inc.
Berkeley, Calif.
www.mcbuild.com

This mid-century-style home was inherited from this homeowner’s aunt and uncle. In addition to updating the mechanicals, this project also included several small additions—totaling 200 square feet—a complete interior and exterior remodel, enclosing the carport for a garage and creating a new entry and driveway.

A rolling barn door opens the garage to the vestibule, so when a car isn’t in the garage, the space can be used for entertaining. The kitchen was opened to the living room and dining room and wood floors are used throughout to unify the space.

Large windows and French doors are used on the exterior of the house and large mirrors are used on the interior of the house, both to take advantage of the view of the bay. The original yard was paved in concrete. The new deck is lined with benches, again to take advantage of the view.
