Residential Historical Renovation/Restoration
National Winner
Provenance Builders
Dallas, Texas
This home, originally built in 1934, reflected the French Eclectic style of Charles Stevens Dilbeck. The challenge was to add in modern amenities and systems without compromising the historic interiors.
The addition to this home included a family room with a large bay and seating area, a breakfast nook and a craft room. Many of the windows in the original structure had been removed and covered over. Because the homeowners desired more natural light, these windows were replaced, in the same places with the original framing still in place.
Furniture-style cabinets and historical fixtures keep with the architectural form in the master bath, but with modern touches, such as dual vanities, a walk-in shower and a claw-foot tub. The master hallway features his and her walk-in closets, with light fixtures made from tin flower pots sourced from a local garden store.
