Member Spotlight May 2009
I am a Certified Interior Designer and a Green Certified Professional. For the past 25 years I have worked in the construction industry primarily the kitchen and bath remodeling field. Currently I am growing my business to include sustainable consulting, curriculum development, and corporate training. NARI and Columbus State Community College has hired me to teach and develop programming for their constituencies. This is an exciting time to be doing business in the sustainability field; I look forward to the challenges and successes that lie ahead! As a social entrepreneur, I find it necessary to put societal needs at the center of my business focus and energy. Knowing this, advocating for sustainable issues is a good fit. When I look back at the people who helped define who I am today, I have come to realize, they were advocates too. Having often been a part of leadership efforts in both environmental stewardship and compassion for the human condition, shapes who I am today. I am grateful for such an exciting outlet for my creative talents; it provides me opportunities that impact emerging sustainable building best practices and workforce development training programs. The emerging Green Industry has enabled me to research and develop strategies providing knowledgeable design and consulting services to residential homeowners, small business owners and educational facilitators.
