A look ahead from NARI Lobbyist

2013 will be a busy year for NARI in Washington D.C.  Fiscal issues will continue to dominate debate on Capitol Hill in the wake of the “taxmageddon” negotiations that marked the end of the 112th Congress.  America’s struggle to work its way out of a recession will translate into Senators and Congressmen debating frequently on taxes and spending.

When it comes to safety, Doug Hanna, president of S & H Construction Inc., in Cambridge Mass., doesn’t mess around.  Hanna has seen his share of on-the-job injuries during the course of the 33 years his company has been in business—some minor and some major. “It’s a dangerous business,” Hanna says. “You can’t protect against everything.”

NARI’s green education program introduces a different way of thinking

Hallie Bowie, GCP, architect and owner of New Leaf Home Design, based in Akron, Ohio, earned her Green Certified Professional (GCP) designation through NARI in 2007 when it was first introduced to the remodeling community. Back then, Bowie says, green remodeling was a “new thing.”
