Innovation in Drywall Technology Reduces Sound

Not all drywall is created equal.

While all gypsum-based drywall is naturally fire-resistant, the PURPLE® family of high-performance drywall and cement board products is unique because it also resists moisture, mold and mildew. In addition, most PURPLE® drywall products also stand up to scratches, scuffs, dents and sound.

Reduce the sound you hear between rooms with SoundBreak® XP® Drywall.

While there’s no such thing as completely soundproof drywall,  SoundBreak® XP® Drywall can drastically reduce the amount of noise you hear between rooms from music, television, conversation, a baby crying or dogs barking.

Use the demo below to compare how well SoundBreak® XP® reduces different kinds of sound versus standard drywall. You can choose four different audio samples to compare the sound in three different rooms. Voice and music penetrate walls with different efficiencies, so it’s a good idea to listen to more than one sample. Make sure to adjust the volume on your device so you can clearly hear the sound where it originates in each room.
