Build Trust with Consistent Delivery

When asked what he’s most passionate about, Charlie Schloegel, CR, UDCP, a winner of ProRemodeler’s 2019 40 Under 40, talks about delivering projects consistently. “Schloegel Design Remodel is highly recognized and well-known in the market for delivering the highest quality product on-time and within budget. It’s part of our history and we’re proud of this.”

“When you think about project delivery, there are three things to consider: Quality, Time and Budget. Schloegel Design Remodel delivers on all three aspects,” Charlie added. He grew up in the business, so this deep work ethic and sense of integrity runs deep. He spent time at the business working on summer break and school vacations during high school and through college. After graduating with a degree in Business Management from Rockhurst University in 2006, Charlie worked at two other companies for a total of five years.

In 2011, Charlie joined Schloegel Design Remodel and in January 2018 purchased the business with his business partner, Chris Peterson, MCR, CLC. Together, they continue to live the company’s brand promise: Original in Design. Excellence in Execution.

NARI Makes a Difference

“NARI has served our company well. I have been fortunate to have focused on my own professional development and have earned my CR (Certified Remodeler) and UDCP (Universal Design Certified Professional) certifications,” Charlie commented. “Being part of the Kansas City Chapter – NARI’s 4^th largest chapter – and working with local chapter executive, Jan Burchett, has been a great opportunity to gain broader exposure and understanding of the local remodeling community.” When asked if he is going to pursue a permanent seat on the board, Charlie laughed, “With 4 kids and one on the way, I’ll have to wait to serve on the board. My “Five under seven” keeps me busy now!”

Opportunities for Remodeling

Charlie shares the wide-spread opinion that the industry is underserved by professionals. For Charlie it’s more than delivering a beautiful kitchen or home remodel. “We’re improving our client’s homes and we improve their lives,” he noted. “The softer side of our business – the relationship building – is huge. There’s great satisfaction when a client says, “You’ve saved our marriage and made our home beautiful at the same time. We can never thank you enough.” All of us at Schloegel Design Remodel are driven by the knowledge that we are improving the way our clients live, and enjoy, their homes.

Advice for Other Young Pros?

“Develop a brand that builds a following of loyal clients who come back and who refer business. For a young up and comer…don’t cheat the experience in the short term. Serve your client’s well, deliver both an amazing experience and quality products.”
