NARI San Antonio Closing the Skills Gap One Student at a Time

The NARI San Antonio Chapter participated in their first NEISD Career Expo, to introduce and engage young folks and their parents into the world of remodeling and NARI.  NEISD (North East Independent School District) is a large district made up of 18 middle schools and 11 high schools.  The event had over 1,000 students in attendance.

The purpose of the career expo was to inform students of training, educational programs and career opportunities in many different fields.  This event for many, was the first step  in choosing their career pathway.   Many successful architecture, construction and trade companies participated, which was a very strong message that the industry is taking the workforce development very seriously.

In addition to the students, the NARI representatives were able to spend time talking to construction teachers in the district, making them aware of our need for up and comers to support the needs of our NARI members.  We already received recommendations on talented students who are interested in summer employment and a career in remodeling and construction!

Three Board of Directors, the executive director and two NARI member companies represented the Chapter at this successful NARI event.  We look forward to continuing to support the workforce development imitative within the remodeling industry.

NARI continues to promote Remodeling Done Right. Workforce Development is a key initiative in 2017.
