BOWA, McLean, Virginia

The challenges with this 1885 row house renovation included a lack of natural light, a closed floor plan, and a generally dated look. The project included removing the wall that separated the living room and kitchen, renovating the kitchen and half bathroom on the main level, remodeling the full bathroom, adding a laundry area to the second level, pouring new concrete flooring on all four levels, and designing an innovative staircase. The new custom steel perforated stairs act as the focal point in this industrial chic home, which helps disperse the natural light from the top-floor skylight.
