Our clients downsized to this Victorian home built in 1890. They wanted an open concept living space on the first floor with a better connection to the backyard and more light to the Victorian interior. Removing the brick wall between the kitchen and living rooming achieved this. A master suite was added by repurposing the third bedroom into a master bathroom and walk-in closet. The laundry also moved to the second floor, and a mudroom was added where the original laundry was situated. Much of the original detailing and materials were kept intact or reintroduced. Details influenced by the Eastlake style were also included.
