The clients requested an open plan with a dramatic Zen feel. The existing kitchen had a tight galley design with limited storage. The kitchen/living room opening was maximized, and the living room/dining room transition was enhanced by minimizing and cladding support columns in sandblasted fir, creating a focal point to the new fireplace. Bold textured cabinets and leathered stone countertops add drama, while oak accent cabinets, flooring and a Venetian plaster fireplace create a Zen feel. Bar seating was added on the living room side, and floating shelves over window to make the kitchen feel wider. Custom interior doors create visual depth to the hallway and entry area.
