When the clients built their mid-1980s home, they were focused on the site, overall house layout and costs. Over the years, corners cut to save costs, design errors and ergonomic challenges began to wear on them as the kitchen aged. Space for two pantries was claimed by closing up an unused pocket door opening to the kitchen from the formal entry. The adjacent wall beside the buffet area was removed and a new prep zone was added. A new window was incorporated and encased in natural wood to complement adjacent areas.
