The main living area of this house built in 1959 did not meet this family’s current needs. They envisioned a classic, yet brighter and more open plan. To achieve this, the kitchen layout was reconfigured to use the space more efficiently. To remove the wall that separated the kitchen from the living area, a 27-foot I-beam was used to support the structure. The result: a large communal space. The kitchen features white shaker style cabinets, an island illuminated by Edison filament pendants, Quartzite countertops, and light gray subway tiles. Orange industrial counter stools add a fun, bright accent, while blending seamlessly with the color theme in the living area.
