H.R. 33 to Reduce Regulatory Burden on Small Businesses

Reintroduction of H.R. 33 Bill to Reduce Impact on Small Business Regulations

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) commends Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot (R-OH) on his reintroduction of the Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act, H.R. 33.

This legislation will require federal regulators to take into consideration both the direct and any reasonably foreseeable indirect effects that proposed regulations will have on small businesses.  The bill will allow more opportunity for small business members to engage in the regulatory process, and it will also require agencies to regularly review regulations already on the books for their economic impact on small businesses.

“The number of federal mandates and paperwork associated with federal rules and regulations is growing at an alarming rate.  NARI supports efforts in Congress to give small businesses a more powerful voice in the regulatory development process and to remove unnecessary regulatory barriers that stifle business growth and job creation. We thank Chairman Chabot and the original cosponsors of H.R. 33 for their understanding of the burdens that excess regulations place on remodelers and we look forward to working with all parties to pass this legislation.”
