NARI Commemorates National Home Improvement Month with Tips and Inspiration

Almost two decades ago, The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) created National Home Improvement Month with the backing of the U.S. Congress. Today, this initiative—to help consumers learn about their homes, recognize signs that something needs repair, and to work with qualified experts—has gained new momentum with a new generation of homeowners who are spending more time at home.

“When NARI created National Home Improvement Month in 2002, we sought to celebrate and elevate the potential of home improvement,” said NARI CEO David R. Pekel, MCR, UDCP, CAPS. “As we adapt and change with the times, we’re proud that our members consistently offer the expertise and creativity to show homeowners all they can do with their homes—from small improvements to grand transformations. Especially today, we’re excited to devote this special month to showing homeowners how to turn their homes into safe havens for years to come.”

Throughout May, NARI members across the country will help spread the word on remodeling by providing information on current home improvement trends, inspiring before and after’s, and advice on what to know before taking the leap into a large project. NARI will highlight projects that homeowners can tackle in trending home improvement areas including outdoor living, green living, and home office spaces.

Social media and online content will be complemented by an online toolkit designed to help homeowners make homes more comfortable, more livable, and more valuable with the help of trusted and experienced remodeling professionals.

According to NARI President, Doug King, CR, MBA, of King Contracting, Inc. “NARI has always been the go-to resource for homeowners interested in upgrading their living spaces. This month, we’ll offer a wide array of helpful advice based on our collective years of working in this ever-changing industry.” King notes a few starter tips including:

  • Be more vigilant than ever in checking licenses and insurance for anyone that you allow to enter your home
  • Stay focused on safe habits and do not let the excitement of remodeling your home blur your vision for the safeguards you have in place for your loved ones
  • Be sure to start your research at the best place to connect with a safe, professional, and trusted remodeler: remodelingdoneright.com
